Answers to common questions about Clipboard, purchases, and iCloud synchronization.

iOS and macOS are separate apps

Clipboard for iOS and Clipboard for macOS are developed separately. Each app is fully usable on its own and does not require the other app to be installed.

Because they are independent products, each app has its own low-cost purchase. A purchase made in the iOS app does not unlock the macOS app, and a purchase made in the macOS app does not unlock the iOS app. You only need to purchase the version or versions you want to use.

Using both apps with iCloud

If you use Clipboard on both iOS and macOS, your clipboard items can synchronize through your private iCloud account. Sign in to the same Apple Account on both devices, enable iCloud Drive, and allow Clipboard to use iCloud.

Your clipboard data is stored on your devices and in your private iCloud account. We do not operate a server that receives or stores your clipboard content.

Restoring a purchase

Use the restore-purchase option in the same platform app where you originally purchased access. Make sure the App Store is signed in with the Apple Account used for that purchase. An iOS purchase can be restored in the iOS app; a macOS purchase can be restored in the macOS app.

If restoring your purchase fails, you can try purchasing the same item again while signed in to the same Apple Account. The App Store should recognize the previous purchase, restore access, and charge you only once for that item. Always review the Apple purchase confirmation shown on screen before continuing.

If iCloud is not syncing

  • Confirm that every device is signed in to the same Apple Account.
  • Check that iCloud Drive is enabled and Clipboard is allowed to use iCloud.
  • Make sure the devices have a working internet connection and enough iCloud storage.
  • Open Clipboard on each device and allow a little time for the first synchronization.
  • Install the latest available version of Clipboard and the operating system.
